Connecting environmental science, biodiversity and decision-making so that action on nature can be understood in the context of the systems and places it affects.
Global Catchment is focused on bringing stronger scientific thinking to the way organisations understand, measure and act on nature. Rather than treating biodiversity and environmental impact as isolated metrics, the initiative looks at the wider systems in which those actions take place.
That means connecting evidence, place and decision-making: helping organisations ask not simply whether an action sounds positive, but what is changing in the environment around them, what they can do that will make the greatest positive difference, and how that impact can be demonstrated and justified.
Independent scientific evidence also makes environmental action more credible. By building measurement, verification and expert scientific scrutiny into the process, organisations can create an auditable account of what they have done and what changed — reducing the risk of greenwashing and making genuine environmental progress easier to distinguish from good intentions.
Peter is a Co-Director of Global Catchment, and we are really excited to be on board with an initiative that sits naturally alongside Kyros Kairos's wider interest in translating good science into decisions that work in the real world.
